Marabu KiDS piggy bank painting set with porcelain pens

Marabu KiDS piggy bank painting set – paint your own money box and bake it

The Marabu KiDS piggy bank painting set contains a white piggy bank to paint and two Porcelain & Glas Painters in Kirschrot 031 and Schwarz 073. You can decorate your own money box, for example with a name, a slogan or a pattern, and then bake the paint in the oven. Marabu recommends the set for ages 3 and up.

The pens are water-based and odourless. They have a universal tip and a line width of 1–3 mm, for lines, lettering and small areas. The pens are intended for decorative purposes only.

Decorating your piggy bank

For the paint to hold securely, preparation and baking are what matter. An adult should operate the oven.

• Clean: Wipe the piggy bank clean with scouring cream and a small sponge. Rub off fingerprints with Marabu cleaner or methylated spirits. Do not pre-clean in the dishwasher.
• After that, do not touch the surface to be painted with your hands.
• Paint: Paint your design with the two pens. Store the pens lying flat; if one does not write properly, stand it tip down.
• Dry: Leave the paint to dry for 4 hours.
• Bake: Remove the stopper from the money box and place the piggy bank in the cold oven. Bake it for 30 minutes at 160 °C and leave it to cool in the oven.

Designs in two colours

With Kirschrot and Schwarz, clear contrasts work best: black for outlines, lettering and eyes, red for hearts, dots or all-over patterns. Practise a design or lettering on paper first, because on the smooth surface a painted line is hard to correct before it dries.
