Proxxon Micromot HKP 220 – hot glue gun for fine bonding work

The Proxxon Micromot HKP 220 hot glue gun (art. no. 28192) bonds metal, wood, plastic (including Perspex), glass, ceramics, earthenware, cardboard, leather, foams and textiles. It covers craft, model-making and repair jobs with a single tool.

Depending on the material and the amount applied, the glue sets after about 30 seconds. Until then you can still adjust the part. This is an advantage over superglues, where the bond is fixed immediately. The heating element is PTC-controlled and keeps the temperature at 200 °C. The feed is mechanical, so you can control the amount of glue precisely. The integrated stand holds the gun securely on the table between glue points.

Gluing with the HKP 220

Insert a glue stick into the gun from the back, plug the gun in and wait until the glue emerges at the nozzle. Do not fix the parts in place beforehand: apply the glue to one of the two parts and join them quickly, as the glue starts to cool straight away. You can correct the position within the approx. 30 seconds of setting time. Dust and grease on the surfaces reduce adhesion, so clean them first.

Mini sticks and nozzles: which to choose

The gun takes 7 mm mini sticks. According to Proxxon, they are particularly suitable for fine work such as model making, toy making, dried flowers and jewellery making. The three interchangeable nozzles give different output shapes and thicknesses. Use a finer nozzle for small dots and thin beads, and a wider one for larger areas. Do not let the gun cool down before changing the nozzle, otherwise the cooled glue will stick fast in the nozzle. Change it carefully, as it is hot.

The tool heats up to 200 °C. The nozzle and freshly applied glue are hot: risk of burns. Do not touch them and place the gun on the stand during breaks in work. The tool is connected to the mains. Do not leave it unattended while plugged in.
