Rico Design ridged cylinder candle mould – soft silicone mould for pillar candles

The ridged cylinder candle mould from Rico Design is made of soft silicone and lets you cast your own pillar candles with a ridged surface. The finished candle measures 50 x 50 x 75 mm, while the mould itself is slightly larger at 60 x 60 x 88 mm. According to Rico Design, the soft silicone makes it particularly easy to use, as you simply push the candle out of the flexible mould once it has set.

You will need about 103 g of wax per candle, so you can weigh out the wax for several candles in advance. The mould is heat-resistant up to 230 °C.

Casting the candle

Thread the wick as Rico Design describes:

• Pierce the wick through one side of the mould with a tapestry needle or another pointed object.
• Knot the wick on the outside so that it cannot slip back.
• Centre the wick at the top.
• Pour in the liquid wax up to the top edge.
• Wait until the wax has set completely, then push the candle out of the flexible mould.

Good to know

Stand the mould on a level surface while pouring and setting so that the candle comes out straight. The wax usually sinks around the wick as it cools. If a dip forms there, top up with a little more wax. The ridges of the mould are transferred as texture to the candle surface.
