BeaverCraft C7 – Detail Knife with a Thin Tip for Fine Carving

The BeaverCraft C7 is a small wood carving knife for fine detail, such as facial features, eyes, notches and narrow outlines in whittling and carving. The blade is made of 1066 high-carbon steel and has a very thin tip, so you can make narrow cuts even in tight areas. The handle is made of ash wood.

With an overall length of 160 mm and a 40 mm blade, the knife is compact and sits well controlled in the hand. According to the manufacturer, it is suitable for right-handed and left-handed users.

How to carve fine details

Use the C7 for eyes, mouths, feathers or patterns when larger carving knives are too coarse. Work with short, controlled cuts and approach the shape you want in small steps. Do not lever the thin tip in the wood, as it could break off. It is better to make several shallow cuts than one deep cut.

Which wood?

The C7 has a 20° edge and is intended for soft woods such as lime (linden). BeaverCraft does not recommend it for hardwood, because the fine edge becomes blunt more quickly there. For heavier stock removal, use a sturdier carving knife and leave the fine work to the C7.
