BeaverCraft C2 Bench Knife – carving knife for fine chip carving
The BeaverCraft Bench Knife C2 is a carving knife for fine chip carving in wood. You can use it to rough out larger shapes from the blank and to work small details and decoration.
The high-carbon steel blade is straight and, according to the manufacturer, has a robust, rounded tip. At 40 mm long it is short, so you hold it close to the edge and keep good control of the cut. The 120 mm handle is made of ash, polished and treated with linseed oil. Because it is a wooden handle, you can shape it to your hand with sandpaper or a carving knife. At only approx. 35 g, your hand doesn't tire as quickly during long carving sessions.
Which wood is the C2 suited to?
BeaverCraft sharpens its tools to a cutting angle of 20°. This suits softwood such as lime (linden) or pine, where the fine edge cuts easily. In hardwood, however, it dulls more quickly. For hardwood, it is better to use a different tool.
Care and safe working
High-carbon steel can rust in damp conditions. You should therefore wipe the blade dry after carving.
- Make short, controlled cuts rather than pulling through the wood with force.
- A sharp blade slips less than a blunt one. Hone it in good time when it starts to lose its edge.
