Mayco Fundamental Underglaze UG-092 Lilac – soft lilac underglaze for fine decoration
Mayco Fundamental Underglaze UG-092 Lilac is a soft lilac underglaze for decorating ceramics. It goes on smoothly and evenly, without streaking and without grain. This makes it suitable for gentle gradients, floral designs, modern patterns and illustrations.
You can apply Lilac to leather-hard, bisque-fired ceramics and greenware. The colour is opaque and works for fine lines and shading as well as for solid areas. Under a clear glaze, the clay takes on a gently glowing lilac tone.
Applying Lilac
Depending on the intensity you want, apply one to three coats. Let each coat dry before applying the next, so the finish stays even and does not smear. Use a fine brush for fine lines and shading and a broader one for solid areas. The best way to see how strong the lilac looks under your glaze is a test tile made from your own clay with your clear glaze.
Firing and dinnerware
Lilac withstands bisque and glaze firing in the range from 1000 to 1220 °C. For studio and dinnerware ceramics: Lilac is dinnerware safe only under a transparent, dinnerware-safe clear glaze (Dinnerware Safe with Clear Glaze). Without a clear glaze, you cannot use the underglaze for dinnerware. According to ACMI, the AP seal (Approved Product) means that the product is exempt from hazard labelling.
