Botz 9108 Transparent matt liquid glaze – colourless, matt, ready to use
Botz 9108 Transparent matt liquid glaze is a colourless, matt-clear glaze for earthenware. You apply it to bisque-fired or painted surfaces to give your ceramics a calm, matt finish. The glaze is ready to use, so there is no need to mix it.
Because it stays colourless, the colour of the clay, the texture and any underglaze decoration keep their effect. This is useful when you want pattern and colour to take centre stage and do not want any shine. Typical uses are bowls, vases and decorative pieces in a pared-back style.
Applying and firing the glaze
Stir the glaze thoroughly before use. Apply it to a bisque-fired piece or to painted surfaces. Let each coat dry well before the next. Then fire within the stated range.
- Apply 2–3 even coats by brush, dipping or pouring
- Firing range: 1020–1060 °C, can be used up to 1100 °C
- For an even matt finish, allow a hold time of 10–20 minutes at approx. 1050 °C
Who is 9108 for?
With a firing range up to 1100 °C, the glaze is intended for earthenware, not for stoneware clays, which are fired at significantly higher temperatures. If you want to gently seal the colours of your underglaze painting without any shine, choose 9108. If you would rather have a glossy surface, the series glaze 9106 Transparent hochglänzend is a better choice. You can also use both on the same piece to combine matt and glossy areas. A test tile before the actual piece will show you how the glaze looks on your clay.
