The Rayher polystyrene dog (art. no. 3320900) is a white craft figure, 25 cm tall, which you can decorate however you like. According to Rayher, you can paint it with all-purpose or craft paint, embroider it with sequins, decorate it with rhinestones and fabric, or use it for needle felting.

The figure is a blank: you decide whether it becomes a colourful fantasy dog, a furry dog made from felting wool or a glittering decoration. At 25 cm tall, it is large enough for detail work and still fits on a shelf or in a window.

Decorating the dog

Polystyrene is sensitive to solvents. Use water-based craft or acrylic paint and solvent-free craft glue. Spray varnishes and solvent-based paints can damage the material. If in doubt, test on an inconspicuous spot, such as under the belly.

• Painting: apply a thin base coat first, let it dry, then paint on the details
• Decorating: fix fabric, sequins or rhinestones in place with glue
• Needle felting: stab the felting wool into the figure layer by layer with the felting needle
