Hahnemühle Anniversary Edition watercolour paper at 425 gsm is a matt artists' paper for watercolour, gouache, tempera and acrylic. This pack contains 50 sheets. Choose your size from the options.

At 425 gsm, the paper is much heavier than ordinary drawing paper. You can apply colour wet-in-wet and build up transparent glazes in several layers. The paper is sized internally, not just on the surface. According to Hahnemühle, it is vegan, acid-free, lightfast and age-resistant. That matters if you want to keep or frame your paintings.

Which techniques is the paper suitable for?

Hahnemühle recommends the paper for all watercolour techniques as well as for gouache, tempera and acrylic. You can glaze, work wet-in-wet or paint more opaquely, and combine techniques on one sheet. The matt surface gives colour gradients a calm, even look.

Working with plenty of water

The heavier the paper, the less it cockles when wet. For very watery washes, you can still tape the edges of the sheet to a board with masking tape and leave it to dry flat. Try out new colours and techniques on an offcut first.
