Getting clean shapes
Roll the dough out evenly and chill it briefly if needed, as firm dough holds both outline and embossing better. Dip the cutter briefly in flour or icing sugar before cutting, press it straight down with even pressure and release the shape carefully. For fondant and marzipan, use icing sugar for this; for salt dough or FIMO, use a smooth, flat surface. The underside is the cutting edge, so take care when washing and storing it.
