Botz Unidekor 4019 Whiskeybraun – glossy decorating colour for ceramics and porcelain

Botz Unidekor 4019 Whiskeybraun is a liquid, opaque universal decorating colour in a brown shade for ceramics and porcelain. You fire it in the range 1000–1250 °C and can use it as an underglaze, overglaze or in-glaze colour. It is also intended for porcelain painting, majolica technique and relief work. The surface turns glossy after firing, and the colour stays stable across the whole firing range.

Botz Unidekor colours can be mixed with one another. Adding Botz 4009 Weiß gives light pastel shades, so the brown can become, for example, a soft beige. Undiluted, the colour is also suitable for airbrush work. The 30 ml is plenty for individual projects, for details or for trying out the shade.

Working with Unidekor

The technique determines how you apply the colour and how you glaze over it. Beforehand, a test piece will show you how the brown looks with your clay and your firing.

• Underglaze technique: apply the decoration and glaze over it thinly with Botz 9106
• In-glaze technique "glaze+paint": apply the colour to the unfired glaze; matt Botz glazes work particularly well, for example from the 9108, 9107, 9487–9491 and 9612 series
• Marbling: possible when diluted, on a dampened or glaze-fired clay body, that is, glazed and fired
• Airbrush: can be used undiluted

Mixing and combining colours

Unidekor colours can be mixed with one another. If you want to lighten the shade, add Botz 4009 Weiß; this gives pastel shades. Mixing and applying work best in small quantities, so that you can repeat the mixed shade exactly if needed.
