Mayco Stroke & Coat SC-093 Honeydew List – glossy brush-on glaze for details and larger areas
Mayco Stroke & Coat SC-093 Honeydew List is a ceramic glaze for painting on damp clay, bisque-fired ware and stoneware. The thick, highly pigmented glaze stays where you apply it. That makes it suitable for lines, details and multicoloured designs. It fires glossy, so you do not need an additional clear glaze.
According to Mayco, the glaze is dinnerware safe. It carries the ACMI AP (Approved Product) seal, which according to ACMI stands for a product exempt from hazard labelling.
Application and coverage
One coat of Stroke & Coat looks slightly translucent; with 2–3 coats it becomes opaque. Let each coat dry before you apply the next. Thinned, it gives soft gradients and transparent effects. The colours in the series can be mixed together, so you can blend your own shades. The glaze does not run or blend into neighbouring colours, so clean edges are possible.
Firing: firing range and high firing
The normal firing range is from cone 06 (approx. 998 °C, guide value per Orton chart) to cone 05 (approx. 1031 °C, guide value per Orton chart). Mayco states firings from cone 06 to cone 10 (approx. 1285 °C, guide value per Orton chart) for the series, oxidising or reducing. The colours behave differently at high temperatures. According to Mayco, Honeydew List stays semi-transparent and does not change colour at cone 6 (approx. 1222 °C, guide value per Orton chart) in an oxidising firing. For other firing temperatures and reduction firing, fire a test piece made from your own clay first.
