Botz 9803 Miami stoneware engobe, 200 ml

Botz Stoneware Engobe 9803 Miami – green matt engobe for stoneware

Botz stoneware engobe 9803 Miami is a green engobe for colouring stoneware in the firing range 1180–1280 °C. Without glaze it fires to a soft matt, earthy finish, covers well and picks out contours sharply. This makes it suitable for patterns, lines and coloured areas on leather-hard or bisque-fired clay.

The engobe can be mixed with other colours from the Botz Edition, so you can create your own shades. With a clear glaze such as Botz 9300 or 9870, the colour becomes more intense and glossy. The tub contains 200 ml.

Applying the engobe

Stir the engobe well before applying so that the colour pigments are evenly distributed. Apply 2–3 coats to leather-hard or bisque-fired clay and let each coat dry thoroughly before applying the next. This gives you an evenly opaque surface.

• Stir well
• Apply 2–3 coats
• Allow to dry thoroughly between coats
• Fire in the range 1180–1280 °C

Matt or glossy – with or without glaze

Applied neat, the engobe stays matt; with a clear glaze the surface becomes glossy and the colour appears stronger. The effect may vary slightly depending on the glaze and the clay. A test piece will show you beforehand what the result looks like in your case.
