Botz Unidekor 4001 Dottergelb – opaque universal decorating colour for ceramics and porcelain

Botz Unidekor 4001 Dottergelb is a liquid, opaque universal decorating colour in yellow with a satin finish. You can use it to paint ceramics and porcelain using underglaze, overglaze, majolica and relief techniques. The colour is designed for a firing range of 1000 to 1250 °C, so you can use it with many common firing programmes.

According to Botz, Unidekor is exempt from hazard labelling, meaning it is lead-free and contains no hazardous substances in concentrations requiring labelling. The colour is part of the Botz Unidekor series, whose shades can be mixed with one another. Dottergelb is a warm yellow that you can use neat or as a mixing component.

Application and firing

The colour is liquid and can be applied with a brush. Undiluted, it is also suitable for the airbrush. Before firing, Unidekor colours look matt and less vivid; they only show their full intensity after firing. So do not judge the shade on an unfired test piece.

Mixing and choosing

All Unidekor colours can be mixed with one another. With 4009 Weiß you can lighten Dottergelb to pastel shades. Because the colour is opaque, it suits solid areas and strong accents. If you want to combine it with other shades from the series, it is worth making a small mixing test piece and firing it along with your work.
