Botz Unidekor 4007 Rosenholz – pink decorating colour for underglaze, porcelain and relief

Botz Unidekor 4007 Rosenholz is a liquid universal decorating colour in pink, glossy and opaque. You can use it for underglaze and overglaze techniques, porcelain painting, majolica and relief work. The firing range is 1000–1250 °C, so you can use it on earthenware, stoneware and porcelain. Once dry, you can also cover the colour with a clear glaze, using a soft brush.

Botz Unidekor colours can be mixed with one another. For softer shades of pink, mix Rosenholz with 4009 Weiß. Undiluted, the colour is also suitable for airbrushing. According to Botz, Unidekor is exempt from hazard labelling: lead-free and free from hazardous substances in concentrations requiring labelling.

Working with Unidekor

For underglaze work, paint onto bisque-fired ceramics, cover with a thin coat of clear glaze and fire at approx. 1050 °C. For the inglaze technique, apply the colour to dry glaze. Before firing it looks matt and less vivid; it only shows its full intensity after firing. On porcelain, do not apply Unidekor too thinly and fire at 1200 °C or above. Alternatively, glaze with a clear glaze and fire at approx. 1080 °C.

Firing and colour effect

You can fire the colour anywhere within 1000–1250 °C. On stoneware, Unidekor becomes very intense above 1220 °C. If the shade needs to match exactly, test Rosenholz beforehand on a test piece made from your own clay.
