Botz Unidekor 4021 Blaugrün – opaque decorating colour for ceramics and porcelain
Botz Unidekor 4021 Blaugrün is a liquid universal decorating colour for ceramics and porcelain. It is glossy, opaque and plain-coloured, and belongs to the green range. The 30 ml size is a handy quantity for individual projects or for trying out.
The colour can be used in many ways: as an underglaze, overglaze and in-glaze colour, for porcelain painting, majolica technique and relief work. Because it stays stable across the whole firing range of 1000–1250 °C, you do not have to commit to a single firing temperature.
Techniques and application
The technique you choose determines how you apply Blaugrün and what you do next. A test piece on the same clay body shows you beforehand how the colour turns out.
- Underglaze technique: apply the decoration, leave it to dry and cover it with a thin coat of a clear glaze such as Botz 9106.
- In-glaze technique ("glaze+paint"): the colour is painted onto the unfired glaze. According to Botz, matt Botz glazes are particularly suitable, e.g. 9108, 9107, 9487–9491 and 9612.
- Marbling: diluted, the colour can be marbled on a dampened or glaze-fired (glazed and fired) clay body.
- Airbrush: undiluted, Unidekor is suitable for airbrush work.
Mixing and combining colours
The Unidekor colours can be mixed with one another. You can mix your own shades from Blaugrün and other colours in the series. For pastel shades, mix the colour with Botz 4009 Weiß. If you need several mixes for one project, note down the mixing ratios so that you can match the shade again later.
