Botz Unidekor 4009 Weiß – opaque universal decorating colour for ceramics and porcelain

Botz Unidekor 4009 Weiß is a liquid universal decorating colour for ceramics and porcelain. You can use it for underglaze, onglaze and in-glaze techniques, as well as for porcelain painting, majolica technique and relief technique. The colour is white, opaque and glossy after firing. The firing range is 1000–1250 °C, and according to Botz the colour stays stable within this range.

All Unidekor colours can be mixed with one another. The white lightens other shades to pastel colours. Undiluted, the colour is also suitable for airbrushing. Diluted, you can marble it on a dampened or glaze-fired (fired with glaze) clay body. It is made in Germany.

Working with Unidekor

The technique you choose determines how you continue to treat the colour:

• Underglaze technique: apply the decoration, leave to dry and cover with a thin coat of Botz glaze 9106.
• In-glaze technique "glaze+paint": the colour is applied to the unfired glaze. Botz names particularly matt glazes for this, e.g. the series 9108, 9107, 9487–9491 and 9612.
• Airbrush: the colour is used undiluted.
• Marbling: dilute the colour and work on a dampened or glaze-fired clay body.

Mixing and testing white

White is the base for pastel shades: add it gradually to another Unidekor colour until you reach the shade you want. Make a note of the mixing ratios and fire a test piece on your clay body beforehand, so that you can see the result in your kiln.
