Botz Unidekor 4020 Mokka – brown universal ceramic colour
Botz Unidekor 4020 Mokka is a liquid, brown universal ceramic colour. It is glossy and opaque and stable across a firing range of 1000–1250 °C. You can use it as an underglaze, overglaze or in-glaze colour, and also for porcelain painting, majolica technique and relief work. Because one colour covers several techniques, a 30 ml pot goes a long way for individual projects and tests.
The colours in the Unidekor series can be mixed with one another. Mixed with Botz 4009 White, they give light pastel shades, so Mokka becomes, for example, a soft cappuccino tone. Undiluted, the colour is also suitable for airbrushing.
Working with Unidekor
The technique you choose determines the build-up. For the underglaze technique, apply the decoration and then cover it with a thin coat of Botz 9106. For the in-glaze technique "glaze+paint", paint onto the unfired glaze. Botz names particularly matt glazes for this, for example from the 9108, 9107, 9487–9491 and 9612 series. Diluted, the colour can be marbled onto a dampened or glaze-fired, that is glazed and fired, clay body. Always fire a test piece first when trying new combinations, as colour, base and glaze all affect the result.
Mixing Mokka and choosing within the series
The series includes further shades such as Lachs, Whiskeybraun, Birkengrün and Dunkelrot. Mokka sits in the brown range and can be toned with other Unidekor colours. Because Mokka is opaque, it suits both areas and outlines, and you can lighten it with White 4009. The colour stays stable across the firing range of 1000–1250 °C. Mixing is therefore possible throughout the range, whatever the firing temperature.
