Botz Unidekor 4016 Birkengrün is a liquid universal decorating colour in a solid green for ceramics and porcelain. It is opaque and glossy, and suitable for underglaze, overglaze, inglaze, majolica and relief techniques as well as porcelain painting.

The firing range of 1000 to 1250 °C is wide. According to Botz, the Unidekor colours are stable within this range. This green belongs to a series of several Unidekor colours that you can mix with one another.

Working with Unidekor

Depending on the technique, you apply the colour in different ways and protect it differently afterwards.

• Underglaze technique: apply the decoration, leave to dry and cover with a thin coat of Botz 9106.
• Inglaze technique ("glaze+paint"): apply the colour to the unfired glaze. Matt Botz glazes work particularly well, e.g. from the 9108, 9107, 9487–9491 and 9612 series.
• Marbling: when diluted, the colour can be marbled on a dampened or glaze-fired clay body, i.e. one that is glazed and fired.
• Airbrush: Unidekor is suitable undiluted.

Mixing and adjusting the colour

All Unidekor colours can be mixed with one another, so you can darken Birkengrün, lighten it or shift it in other directions. According to Botz, 4009 Weiß produces attractive pastel shades. Because the colour is opaque, the shade of the clay body usually stays hidden. A test piece on your own clay body shows you beforehand how the green will look after firing at your firing temperature.
